The Cities You Think You Know
Why we changed our name & 5 Savvy Travel Tips we bet you didn't know

Why the New Name?
If you’ve been reading The Expert’s Guild Journal, you may have noticed something different up top. We’ve changed the name.
This newsletter is now called The Savvy Traveler.

Why? Because that’s who it’s really for.
Not tourists. Not influencers. Not checklisters.
Savvy Travelers.
The kind of traveler who’s already been there… and now wants to go better.
The kind who’s done the Colosseum and is ready for the side street trattoria with the slow wine pour.
The kind who’s tired of hearing the same “top 10” and would rather hear what actually matters.
We didn’t change what we do.
We just gave it the name it always wanted.
And to celebrate the new name, we’re going back to one of our favorite misunderstood cities: Amsterdam.
🧳 Savvy Shortcuts (Vol. 01)
5 Tips That Make Luxury Travel Feel Effortless
✦ Want to Feel Like a VIP? Pay for the Night You Don’t Use.
If you're arriving on a morning flight, book your hotel room starting the night before. No awkward waiting. No early check-in begging. Just glide from jet bridge to hot shower in under 30 minutes.
💡 Savvy move: Let the concierge know your flight details. Your room will be ready. Your luggage will never see the lobby. And your day will start on your terms.
✦ Lake Como? Take the Ferry from Lecco Instead.
Everyone rushes to Como town. But Lecco (also reachable from Milan) offers the same lake, with more authenticity, fewer tourists, and ferry routes that feel like private cruises.
💡 Savvy move: Take the slow ferry north at sunset. It’s the same lake, but the journey feels entirely your own.
✦ In Rome, Book the Bramante Staircase Tour, Not the Vatican Skip-the-Line.
Skip-the-line gets you through the door. But private early access to the Vatican’s secret Renaissance spiral staircase? That’s how you start a trip with goosebumps.
💡 Savvy move: Small group, no noise, and a side of the Vatican few locals have seen. Book through “Extraordinary Openings.”
✦ In Lisbon, Follow the Miradouros, Not the Google Maps.
Want views and authenticity? Climb to the city’s scenic overlooks (miradouros). Many have informal kiosks with wine, pastel de nata, and not a single TikTok dance in sight.
💡 Savvy move: Grab a bottle and go to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte. Stay for sunset. Stay longer for the silence.
✦ Want to Know Where to Eat? Use Instagram Like a Local.
Search the location tag of a neighborhood on Instagram (not hashtags), and filter for real photos, not just the staged ones. You’ll spot what’s fresh, what’s full, and what’s worth it.
💡 Savvy move: Works especially well in Paris, Seoul, and Mexico City. Bonus points for finding the dish before the name.

📘 The Savvy Guide to Amsterdam
You don’t go back to Amsterdam for the canals. You go back because there’s something you missed the first time and you can’t quite name it.
This guide was made for that version of the city.
✦ No Red Light selfies. No museum marathons.
✦ Just silent courtyards, side-street cocktails, art that whispers, and the kind of moments that only show up when you stop trying to find them.
It’s not a checklist. It’s a companion for travelers who’ve already done Amsterdam… and are now ready to feel it.
